罗伯特·J·巴罗(Robert J. Barro)教授,现任哈佛大学Paul M. Warburg讲席教授、斯坦佛大学胡佛研究所高级研究员、美国企业研究所Makin访问学者、美国国家经济研究局(NBER)研究员、顶级学术期刊《经济学季刊》(Quarterly Journal of Economics)联合主编,曾任西部经济学会主席、美国经济学会副主席,并曾于1998年-2006年担任《商业周刊》专栏作家、于1991-1998年担任《华尔街日报》特约主编,拥有加州理工学院理学学士学位和哈佛大学经济学博士学位。巴罗教授在经济增长的决定因素、政府债务和预算赤字的经济影响以及宗教经济学等领域的重要研究影响深远,他目前正致力于研究罕见性灾难对资本市场及宏观经济运行(如环保政策制定、无风险资产数量、股票期权定价等)的影响。他的代表性论著包括:《宏观经济学:现代方法》、《经济增长(第二版)》、《没有什么神圣的:新千年经济理念》、《经济增长的决定因素》、《正确理解:自由社会的市场和选择》、《全球教育和现代化:从19世纪到21世纪》。
Robert J. Barro is Paul M. Warburg Professor of Economics at Harvard University, a senior fellow of the Hoover Institution of Stanford University, Makin Visiting Scholar at American Enterprise Institute, and a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research. He has a Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University and a B.S. in physics from Caltech. Barro is co-editor of Harvard’sQuarterly Journal of Economicsand was recently President of the Western Economic Association and Vice President of the American Economic Association. He was a viewpoint columnist for Business Week from 1998 to 2006 and a contributing editor ofThe Wall Street Journalfrom 1991 to 1998. Noteworthy research includes empirical determinants of economic growth, economic effects of public debt and budget deficits, and the economics of religion. Current research focuses on the impact of rare disasters on asset markets and macroeconomic activity, with recent applications to environmental protection, quantities of safe assets, and pricing of stock options.
