题目：Urban–Rural Variation in Multidimensional Poverty in China: 2000–2011

Abstract:
Using China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS) data this paper traces the trend of urban-rural disparity in multidimensional poverty in China between 2000 to 2011. Income, health, education and living standards are the four dimensions considered for the enumeration of poverty. The ADB’s (2014) Asian income poverty line is used with specific adjustment for economic vulnerability and food insecurity. Per capita net income, highest level of education and flash toilet are found to be the major contributors to both rural and urban poverty. In the recent period the contribution of health insurance has become more prominent in explaining the urban destitution while the rural people are found to be more vulnerable to risk. The urban-rural disparity in terms of mild and moderate poverty decreases before 2009, however increases since then and the gap in terms of severe poverty remains quite high in this decade.
