Sihua Ding received PhD from the University of Cambridge in 2019. She is currently an assistant professor in economics at Nankai Univeristy. Her research fields are microeconomic theory and economics of networks. She has served as referee for JET, GEB, and AEJ micro.
摘要：
This paper provides a perspective to explain different properties of networks with different link formation requirements. We propose a CES link formation specification that generalizes commonly used link formation assumptions adopted in existsing literatures. The CES specification also enables the investigation on how the subsitutability of link investments determines network structures. We apply our novel link formation specification to two well-known network formation models and illustrate that link investment subsitutability is closely tied to the emergence of various network properties, among which is the unequalness of networks that has great social and economic implications.
