高校学科质量与区域科技创新——基于五十年代院系调整的准自然实验

摘要：
上世纪五十年代大规模的院系调整与我国当代高校学科、科研资源的空间分布等有密切联系。本文基于院系调整这一准自然实验，以跨城市各院系净调入数量作为高校学科质量（以全国第四轮学科评估得分来衡量）的工具变量，在学科层面考察高校学科质量对城市科技创新水平（以专利申请数与专利被引用数来衡量）的影响。本文发现：1）对于高校来讲，每调入一个院系使高校学科排名相对于未经历调整的学科来说，上升4.4-5.6个百分位；2）高校学科得分排名提高一个百分位，与该学科对应的城市专利申请数与专利被引用数分别增加0.21%、0.40%，这一影响在高校扩招后显著上升；3）校企间联合研究开发（体现为联合申请专利）、社会专利引用本地高校专利数量的提升、本地劳动力市场的人力资本改善是高校优势学科本地溢出效应的重要渠道。本文的研究结论对科技创新引领经济高质量发展来说，具有重要的启示意义。

范剑勇，复旦大学8797威尼斯老品牌教授，主要研究领域为区域经济学、产业经济学。已在《经济研究》、《中国社会科学》、《管理世界》三本杂志以单独或第一作者发表论文18篇。研究成果获得上海市哲学社会科学优秀成果奖和教育部高等学校科学研究优秀成果奖等多个奖项。

摘要：
Happiness is a comprehensive indicator of the economic effects of public policies. This paper estimates the effect of winter heating on subjective well-being with a regression discontinuity design by using the turning-on date of the heating service in China as the running variable. The results show that heating reduces adults’ happiness and increases the rate of depressive symptoms, and the negative impact on life satisfaction is also salient. Further analysis shows that both poor air quality brought by heating and pollution information could be the mechanisms. Our results suggest benefits from replacing coal with cleaner energy for heating, which may help reduce air pollution and bring more happiness.

主讲人简介：
Katja Hanewald is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Risk and Actuarial Studies and the Coordinator of the Actuarial Co-op Program at UNSW Sydney. She is also the Director of Research of the Ageing Asia Research Hub, which is hosted by the ARC Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing Research (CEPAR). Her research addresses risk management and insurance responses to population ageing. Katja has published in all leading international insurance and actuarial journals (including the Journal of Risk and Insurance, Insurance: Mathematics and Economics and the ASTIN Bulletin) and several major economics journals (including the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization). Her current research investigates optimal retirement financial decisions of older households and the design of retirement financial products such as reverse mortgages, long-term care insurance, and annuities. She teaches risk management courses. Katja obtained her doctoral degree from the School of Business and Economics at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in November 2010.
摘要：
This talk will highlight new approaches to modelling long-term care and mortality trends using neural networks and survival trees. I will summarise two papers that are based on individual-level data from the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS) from 1998 to 2018. One paper proposes a new model that combines a neural network with a generalized linear model (GLM) to estimate and predict health transition intensities. The second paper develops a new modelling framework for the mortality of the oldest-old, the population aged 80 and over, that combines classic parametric oldest-old mortality models with survival trees.
